    Solar & Public Art

These site-specific installations use light, color or movement to alter their surroundings and enhance the sense of place.

    Celestial Chance

This installation for the Long Beach Boulevard Metro Station in Los Angeles presents contemporary and indigenous approaches to the sky as a realm of discovery.

The Chumash of Southern California believed a mystic game of lots between the Sun and Sky Coyote as the North Star foretold the new year. The Station's lower level includes tile installations inspired by Chumash pictograms by collaborating tile artist, Viqui McCaslin.

The upper level pays homage to solar and celestial instruments. It includes a Star Dome with a North Star pointer, holographic panels to redirect sunlight as color, and paving patterns to monitor the movement of light and shade cross the platform thoughout the year.
